Getting Started With Files
✓ Simple language
✓ Step by step
✓ One task at a time
📁 What is a file?
What this is
A file is anything saved on your computer.
Photos, documents, PDFs, downloads…
They are all just different types of files.
Try this
- Open your computer
- Look for something you saved before
- Click it once
If it opens, you found a file. That’s it.
📥 Where files usually go
What this is
Most files automatically go into a folder called:
Downloads
Try this
- Open your file explorer
- Click "Downloads"
- Look at what’s inside
If you don’t know where something went, check here first.
📁 Make one simple folder
What this is
Folders help you keep important things in one place.
Try this
- Right click in your Downloads folder
- Select "New Folder"
- Name it: Keep
- Move important files into it
You don’t need a perfect system. Just start with one folder.
📤 Moving a file
What this is
Moving a file means putting it somewhere else.
Try this
- Click and hold a file
- Drag it into your "Keep" folder
- Let go
If it disappears from the old spot, that’s okay. It moved.
You’re doing better than you think
Most people were never taught this.
They just clicked around until something worked.
You’re learning it on purpose.
That’s different.
If you need help, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
